Booking Terms
Terms and conditions governing car hire reservations made through PalermoGo.com
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Booking Terms govern all car hire reservations made through PalermoGo.com ("the Platform"), operated in connection with vehicle suppliers based in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. By completing a booking on this website you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full.
PalermoGo.com acts as an intermediary connecting travelers with licensed vehicle rental suppliers operating at or near Palermo Falcone-Borsellino Airport (PMO) and within the city of Palermo, including the historic centre, Quattro Canti district, and surrounding areas. Your rental agreement is ultimately between you and the supplier whose vehicle you collect.
These terms apply to all booking types including short-term daily hire, weekly bookings, one-way rentals, and any reservation involving optional extras such as child seats, GPS devices, or additional driver coverage.
2. Eligibility Requirements
To rent a vehicle through PalermoGo.com, all drivers must meet the following minimum requirements at the time of vehicle collection:
Minimum Age
The standard minimum rental age is 21 years. Drivers aged 21 to 24 may rent subject to a young driver surcharge applied directly by the vehicle supplier at pickup. For premium, luxury, or large SUV categories, the minimum age may be raised to 25 years. This is determined by individual supplier policy and will be indicated in your booking confirmation.
Driving Licence
All drivers must hold a valid full driving licence that has been held for a minimum of one year prior to the rental start date. EU-issued licences are accepted at face value across all Palermo suppliers. Drivers holding licences issued outside the European Union must also carry a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their original national licence and passport. Provisional, learner, or restricted licences are not accepted.
Additional Drivers
Any person who intends to drive the rental vehicle must be named on the rental agreement and must present their driving licence at the point of collection. Adding an unlisted driver to the rental agreement after collection may incur an additional fee as set by the supplier. Unlisted drivers are not covered by the included insurance policy.
3. Bookings and Cancellations
Reservation Process
Bookings are made online through the search and booking widget on PalermoGo.com. Upon completion of your reservation you will receive a confirmation email containing your booking voucher, pickup instructions, and supplier contact details. You should retain this voucher and present it at the rental desk.
Free Cancellation Policy
Most reservations made through this platform include free cancellation up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. The exact cancellation window applicable to your booking will be stated clearly in your booking confirmation. Cancellations made within this window are processed with a full refund to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days, subject to your bank's processing times.
Late Cancellations and No-Shows
Cancellations made after the free cancellation window has closed may be subject to a fee equivalent to one day's rental charge. Failure to collect the vehicle without prior cancellation notice (no-show) will result in forfeiture of any prepaid amounts and no refund will be issued. If your flight is delayed and you are unable to reach Palermo Falcone-Borsellino Airport by the scheduled pickup time, please contact the supplier directly as soon as possible using the number provided in your voucher.
Modifications
Booking amendments including changes to pickup date, vehicle category, or rental duration are subject to availability and supplier policy. Any price difference resulting from a modification will be charged or refunded accordingly. Please contact us at [email protected] to request a modification before your scheduled pickup.
4. Pricing and Payment
Displayed Currency and Inclusions
All prices displayed on PalermoGo.com are shown in Euros (EUR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable under Italian tax law. The base rental rate includes third-party liability insurance, collision damage waiver (CDW) at standard excess, and unlimited mileage unless otherwise stated in the specific vehicle listing.
Optional Extras
The following optional extras are available and may be added at the time of booking or, subject to availability, at the rental desk on collection:
- Child and infant seats (must be booked in advance)
- GPS navigation device
- Additional named driver
- Super collision damage waiver (reduces or eliminates excess)
- Roadside assistance and breakdown cover
Prices for extras are set by individual suppliers and are displayed during the booking process. PalermoGo.com does not charge separately for platform usage.
Fuel Policy
The default fuel policy for most vehicles listed on this platform is full-to-full: you collect the vehicle with a full tank and must return it with a full tank. Failure to return the vehicle with a full tank will result in a refuelling charge applied by the supplier at the prevailing local rate, which may include a service fee. Some suppliers offer a prepaid fuel option; this will be clearly indicated in the booking summary if available.
Payment Methods
This platform accepts debit cards and major credit cards for online booking confirmation. No large card hold is required at the time of online booking, consistent with our no-deposit, low-upfront-commitment policy. At the point of vehicle collection, the rental supplier may place a security deposit hold on a credit or debit card to cover the insurance excess amount. The exact deposit amount will be stated in your booking confirmation prior to finalising your reservation.
5. Vehicle Use Rules
All vehicles hired through PalermoGo.com must be used in accordance with the following rules. Breach of any of these conditions may void your insurance coverage and result in additional charges levied by the supplier.
Permitted Use
Vehicles are provided for lawful personal or business transportation use only on paved public roads across Italy and, where applicable, within the European Union. Routes commonly used by our customers include the A19 motorway between Palermo and Catania, the A29 towards Trapani, and the SS113 coastal road connecting Palermo with Cefalu. Drivers are responsible for compliance with all applicable Italian and EU road traffic laws, including speed limits, ZTL (limited traffic zone) regulations in the Palermo historic centre, and motorway toll requirements.
Prohibited Activities
The following uses are strictly prohibited:
- Off-road driving or use on unsurfaced tracks, including rural farm tracks in the Madonie and Etna areas
- Participation in racing, rallying, or any timed competitive driving event
- Subletting or transferring the vehicle to any person not listed as a named driver
- Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability
- Using the vehicle to transport goods or passengers for hire or commercial reward
- Towing any trailer or other vehicle unless expressly authorised in the rental agreement
- Crossing international borders outside agreed territories without prior written supplier approval
Violations of these rules may result in full liability for any damage, loss, or legal costs incurred, and may expose the renter to criminal prosecution under Italian law.
6. Insurance and Liability
Included Coverage
All vehicles include, as standard, third-party liability insurance as required by Italian law (Responsabilita Civile Auto) and a basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). The CDW reduces your financial liability in the event of damage to the rental vehicle to the applicable excess amount specified in your booking confirmation. Standard excess amounts typically range between EUR 500 and EUR 1,500 depending on vehicle category and supplier.
Optional Full Coverage
An optional Super CDW or full protection package is available for most vehicles. This product reduces the excess to zero or near-zero, providing full peace of mind when driving unfamiliar Sicilian roads, navigating narrow streets in historic areas such as the Ballarò and Vucciria quarters, or travelling on higher-altitude routes near the Madonie Natural Park. Full coverage pricing is displayed at the time of booking.
Exclusions
Insurance coverage does not apply in cases of gross negligence, deliberate damage, driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances, breach of the prohibited use rules set out in Section 5, or damage to tyres, wheels, underbody, glass, or the vehicle interior unless a specific tyre and glass protection add-on has been purchased. Theft of personal belongings from the vehicle is not covered under any rental insurance product offered through this platform.
7. Limitation of Liability
PalermoGo.com operates as a technology platform facilitating connections between customers and independent vehicle rental suppliers. We are not the vehicle owner, operator, or insurer, and are not a party to the rental agreement between you and the supplier.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Italian and EU consumer law, PalermoGo.com's total liability to you arising from or in connection with a booking shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to PalermoGo.com in respect of that specific reservation. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses including but not limited to missed flights, delayed journeys, loss of enjoyment, or costs incurred due to a supplier's failure to make a vehicle available.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under EU consumer protection regulations, including the Consumer Rights Directive as implemented under Italian law.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Booking Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or a booking made through this platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Palermo, Sicily, Italy, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide you with additional protections or rights to bring proceedings locally.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also have access to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr for resolving disputes with online traders without going to court.
